I am Anna Louise Brown, an artist from Rankin, Illinois. I grew up loving the arts and spent all my free time drawing and painting. In high school I quickly realized that creating was more than just a hobby. I am thankful for my friends, family, and art teachers, who encouraged me to pursue a career in the arts. With a dream of becoming a freelance artist, I continued my education at Eastern Illinois University majoring in 2D Studio Art and minoring in Art History. I graduated early in December of 2021 and immediately jumped into my career. My first big project was for my grade school. They reached out to me to paint three murals based on children’s books. At this point I had never painted a mural before so I was nervous and unsure if I could even do it. Despite these challenges, I persevered and quickly discovered a passion for painting murals. I believe that this project is what set my career into motion and the support from my community has been overwhelming. When my local VFW reached out to me to paint murals for them based on each foreign war in honor of those who served, I was excited and up for the challenge. I knew this would truly test my skills as this is the largest and most complex project I have ever worked on. I am currently working on my third mural for them and have many more to go. I am loving every second and am excited to see it through.
